基層樸門

幾日前收到Permaculture雜誌，今日稍有閒情便隨手翻閱。雜誌編輯說，英國Permaculture雜誌創辦人之一Tim Harland於2023年9月離世，我對這裡的Permaculture認識不多，但文章說他在英國推動Permaculture三十年有多，創辧組織和雜誌，深受踐行者愛戴。編輯引用Kirsten Bradley的話鼓勵踐行Permaculture的人：You could be forgiven for thinking that our species isonly destructive - there's overwheming evidence of the harm we can do all around us... but it's also true that you can participate in your ecosystem in a way that tends seeds and people, nourishes plants, pollinators and relationships, and builds soil and community。即是說，與其詛咒黑暗，不如默一盞燈。

其中一篇文章介紹Bolton的Community Roots Permacutlure Project，非常有趣：

1. 發起人是Steve Jones和Ben Blackburn，因為見到只有富人能吃健康的農作物，心有不甘，於是向Transition Together申請撥款購買果樹苗，免費贈送給基層市民。
2. 他們在封城前接收Bolton Diggers的園圃，於是開始構想推動Permaculture的計劃。不過，他們很清楚知道要做的不是救濟式的食物銀行，而是平等分享的種植活動，所以將園圃變成共同種植、分享農產的地方。
3. 他們挨家挨戶問居民是否願意在後園種果樹，居民一開始非常猶疑，但他們不斷說服居民在後園種果樹的好處，至今已在居民的後園栽種85株蘋果、梅和梨樹。
4. 由於Bolton有不同的少數族裔居民，他們來自印度、孟加拉、阿富汗等地方，再加上本地的工人，種樹和交換食物促進社群融合和文化交流。
5. 他們相信很多移民來自農業國家，他們的種植知識能豐富英國的農業經驗，集思廣益。
6. 不奢談任何理論，簡單落地一齊做，用他們的話：Make it dangerously enticing and simple, so people think we can do that... Reach out, knock on doors, leave a leaflet, as people have busy and pressure lives; put on acitivities which are free open to all and include activities for children.

Permaculture從來不止於種植，人、自然和社群的重新連結才是核心所在，希望將來有機會探訪不同的樸門社群。
