1. Health and Safety: Ensure the environment is safe for handling seeds and compost.
2. PPE: Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, if required.
3. Cleanliness: Ensure all equipment and surfaces are clean and free from contaminants to prevent disease transmission.
4. Read the Seed Packet Information Carefully: Familiarize with the specific requirements and recommendations for the seeds to be sown.
5. Prepare the Compost: Have the appropriate type and amount of compost ready for use.
6. Mix the Compost with Perlite in a 3:1 Ratio: Perlite helps improve aeration and drainage in the compost, promoting healthy seedling growth.
7. Fill Modules with Compost: Gently fill each module in the tray with the compost mixture, ensuring even distribution.
8. Level Off by Tapping the Tray: Tap the tray lightly to settle the compost and create a level surface.
9. Put a Seed in Each Module: Place one seed in the center of each module, following the spacing recommendations for the specific plant variety.
10. Plant Seeds at a Depth Equal to Two or Three Times Their Width: Use a finger or a small tool to create a hole in the compost of appropriate depth for the seeds.
11. Cover the Seeds with Compost: Gently cover the seeds with a thin layer of compost, ensuring they are adequately buried but not too deeply.
12. Water the Tray Gently: Use a fine mist or gentle watering can to moisten the compost evenly without disturbing the seeds.
13. Cover the Tray with Cling Film: Enclose the tray with cling film or a transparent cover to create a humid environment that promotes germination.
